WDO Inspection in Salem County

Full-Scope Wood-Destroying Organism Inspections for Residential & Commercial Properties

WDO stands for wood-destroying organisms, a broader category than the more familiar WDI (wood-destroying insects) term. Where a WDI report focuses on insects, a WDO inspection covers the full picture: subterranean termites, carpenter ants, powderpost beetles, wood-boring beetles, fungi, wood rot, and moisture conditions that compromise structural integrity. For homebuyers, sellers, and property owners throughout Salem County, that distinction matters.

Preferred Termite & Pest has performed WDO inspections across Salem County since 2009. Owner Brian Szymborski brings more than 30 years of pest control field experience to every inspection, and we serve both residential and commercial properties.

What We Examine During a WDO Inspection

Our inspectors work through the full property, not just the obvious areas. Inside, we examine basements, crawl spaces, attics, rafters, wood joists, door and window framing, and the foundation. Outside, we cover eaves, the roof structure, the garage, and outbuildings, including sheds. Any area where wood contacts soil or where debris is stored against the structure gets particular attention.

We’re looking for both active infestations and evidence of prior activity. Termite mud tubes on foundation walls, frass (the powdery, sawdust-like material left behind by boring insects), swarmer wings near windows, and hollow-sounding structural members all indicate WDO presence. We also document conducive conditions: wood-to-soil contact, inadequate crawl space ventilation, standing moisture, and similar factors that invite future activity.

After the inspection, you receive:

  • A detailed written report documenting all findings, evidence of current or past activity, conducive conditions, and recommended next steps
  • NPMA-33 form documentation when required for a real estate transaction, issued by our licensed pesticide applicators under NJ DEP standards
  • Clear guidance on treatment options if WDO activity is found, so you don’t have to coordinate with a separate company

One Company from Inspection to Treatment

Many home inspection providers can document what they find but can’t do anything about it. As a licensed pest control company, we can. If our inspection uncovers active termite activity, carpenter ant damage, or moisture-related wood rot, we can move directly into treatment without requiring you to start over with another provider. That continuity saves time, especially in real estate transactions where closing timelines are tight.

Mortgage lenders in many NJ real estate transactions require a WDI report as a condition of closing. Our WDO inspection can satisfy that requirement and provides documentation covering the full organism scope. Brian’s decades of hands-on pest control experience mean we’re not just checking boxes. We give you an accurate picture of the property’s condition and a clear path forward if treatment is needed.

We back every inspection with our 100% satisfaction guarantee, and when you have questions about what we found or what comes next, we’re reachable and responsive. That’s how we’ve built our reputation in Salem County since we opened.
